2 years ago That sounds pretty interesting. How many presidents do you think you are going to compare? I think that seeing the difference between when the country was at peace vs war would show a really interesting association with different words used.
My idea is to compare the "State of the Union Address" speeches of specific presidents across different time spans. speeches here. I'm most interested in comparing presidents' speeches who were involved in large wars (WW1, WW2, Vietnam, Iraq). So comparing Wilson, FDR, Truman, Lyndon B. Johnson...etc. I think analyzing these speeches based on specific words such as "war, family, soldiers, death, freedom" or just doing an overall word frequency analysis.
