Are the version bumps really required since you're using ^?

Shouldn't matter for consumers, but I needed a commit to attempt to bump the npm packages to 1.0.0. Plus this allowed me to test the latest version in the sample app (there is a lock file so we were still using 2.2.1 in this repo).
