If you want to buy one, why not getting a proper Chromebook? If not, have a look at the recovery image list and compare the listed devices' hardware with laptops in question and get one which is close to one of those in the list. Just for example, my Lenovo Yoga 12 runs fine with the Eve recovery (Pixelbook 2017) but the 2-in-1 functionality doesn't work (on-screen keyboard doesn't show up, trackpad is not disabled, screen orientation doesn't change). You'll get a few issues quite certainly because some specific drivers are not included in ChromeOS. Make sure your new laptop has got Intel graphics.
If you want to get a ridiculously awesome ChromeOS experience with a lot less cost, try to shoot for the Dell Latitudes with touch screens from a generation or two back. They should work pretty well since their hardware probably isn't much different than the new Enterprise Chromebooks coming out from Dell and a couple other manufacturers, and the Dell Latitude 5300 2in1 Chrome is a pretty awesome machine, though probably a bit overpriced.
What's the best hardware to look out for to get this working the best?
