  1. What is happening in real time.
  2. What are the milestone critiques (e.g initial release of website checkout process).

Task: Get genuine feedback and be open to criticality to understand what's working and what is not.

Write out brand mission or vision statement to get an opportunity to describe why we chose the words we did, the descriptors and how we got there.

recap: (1) WIP critique | (2) milestone critique

Document 'rules of engagement'. Write down what we want to present, before we present. Have it clear in our brain. What language we want to use to help those who are non-creative and those who are about to give feedback know what to focus on.

Rules for acquiring feedback:

Don't go more than 3 minutes when presenting and getting feedback.

Post-presentation feedback:

Ask critics, "are there any clarifying questions". Sometimes language escapes us and can be confusing for the critic.

Unpack feedback. Start with roses, what was liked -> what did you find challenging -> how might i build on these ideas?

Lastly, don't defend idea choices. Final rule: say thank you.

Feedback is a like gift. We may like it or not, but we say thank you either way.

Rules for critic: Only allowed to ask clarifying questions.

No advice hidden inside of questions like "well you should have done this", or "you should've added that". Only clarifying questions if we skipped through something that was confusing, like "are we only looking at wireframes or are we looking at the typography". As you are listening to the presentation, write down what you like... what you found challenging... what could be improved -> does not have to be long winded.... just written down notes to give as a 'gift'. 1 critique per note.

Writing down notes gets us to pause and gives us thoughts on how to express what we want to say opposed to sharing in real-time. Before reacting, be thoughtful in communication. Force to choose words carefully.
