Xfce global menu applet has dark text in a dark background

As you can see from the screenshot, other applets work fine.

Could you post your theme's gtkrc file also?

Sure. I had to hack the gtkrc file before, because the Clock applet also had 
this
problem. So it might be a theme-issue...

I strongly believe it is a theming issue. Probably you need to specify some 
rules for
XfceExternalPanelPlugin, or GnomenuGlobalMenu, or GnomenuMenuBar.
