What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Download
http://gnome2-globalmenu.googlecode.com/files/gnome-globalmenu-0.7.6.tar.gz
2. Extract it by using file-roller in GNOME

What is the expected output?
 drwxrwxr-x 2 andre andre   4096 27. Jun 11:25 po

What do you see instead?
 drwxrwxrwx 2 andre andre   4096 27. Jun 11:25 po

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Fedora 10

I made a tarball from the trunk(@2587) and it doesn't have the problem.

That 0.7.6 tarball was uploaded hastily -- it was never 'released'. 
If you could confirm the problem is doesn't affect the trunk we can withdraw the
file, fix problems in issue 388, and make a real release with a release note.
