Changes apply 1/1/2018 forward unless otherwise noted

Breast 8575 row: 8033 deleted as a subtype

Urinary Row added: “Neuroendocrine carcinoma 8246/3” Subtype: “Large cell neuroendocrine tumor/combined large cell neuroendocrine carcinoma 8013” (moved from 8041 to 8246) Subtype: “Small cell neuroendocrine carcinoma 8041/3” (was previously its own row) Row added: “Neuroendocrine tumor, NOS 8240/3” (was previously a subtype of 8041) Subtype: “Neuroendocrine tumor, grade 2 8249/3” Row deleted: “Small cell neuroendocrine carcinoma 8041”

Head and Neck

Table 1 “Squamous cell carcinoma 8070” row: Subtypes added “Basaloid squamous cell carcinoma 8083” "Papillary squamous cell carcinoma 8052” “Verrucous Carcinoma 8051” Table 3 “Chondrosarcoma 9220/3” row Subtype added: “Chondrosarcoma, grade 1 9222/3 (cases diagnosed 1/1/2022 forward)” "Liposarcoma 8850/3” row: Subtype added: “Liposarcoma, well differentiated 8851/3” Row added: “Neuroendocrine tumor, NOS 8240/3”: see rules for subtypes Row deleted: “Well-differentiated Neuroendocrine carcinoma 8240” Table 5 “Squamous cell carcinoma 8070” row: Subtypes added: “Basaloid squamous cell carcinoma 8083” “Lymphoepithelial carcinoma 8082” “Papillary squamous cell carcinoma 8052” “Verrucous carcinoma/Carcinoma cuniculatum 8051” Table 9 Rows added: "Aortic body paraganglioma (C75.5)” 8691/3 “Parasympathetic paraganglioma” 8682/3 “Sympathetic paraganglioma” 8681/3 Table 10: Paired Site added: C754 Carotid Body

Kidney New row added: “Medullary carcinoma 8510” (was previously a subtype of 8312) "Neuroendocrine tumor (NET) 8240” row: “Extra-adrenal paraganglioma 8693” added as a subtype/variant “Renal cell carcinoma NOS 8312” row: A bunch of new terms were added for 8311 (a subtype of 8312). I don't think we need to make any algorithmic changes here. We exclude 8311 from the same row rule and adding terms shouldn't have an effect anyway.

Non-malignant CNS “Hemangioma 9120/0” row: “Venous hemangioma” 9122/0 added as a subtype/variant 8000 row: Neuroepithelial tumor, NOS 8000/1 removed from subtypes/variant This is not a new change but I realized we aren't doing it correctly in the algorithm. When the site is brain AND (both histologies are 9413/0 OR both are 9509/0), we need to return questionable in M10 (Rule M10 Abstract a single primary when there are separate/non-contiguous tumors in the brain (multicentric/multifocal) with the same histology XXXX.) So- 9413/0 and 9143/0 in brain return questionable at M10. 9509/0 and 9509/0 in brain return questionable at M10. If the site is not brain, then return questionable at Rule M11 (Abstract a single primary when separate/non-contiguous tumors are on the same row…) We need a change to how we do 8000/0. Normally 8000 is not included in the tables because that would make 8000 + any other histology multiple primaries via the “different row” rules. But it’s included in the CNS tables for only one specific histology term. We need to exclude it from the different row rule. M12. If 8000 occurs with another histology, it should stop at M12 as questionable with this message: “Unable to determine if 8000/0 (or 8000/1) is a different row.”

Other sites Table 2: Row added: “Mixed medullary and poorly differentiated carcinoma / mixed medullary and anaplastic carcinoma / Mixed medullary and oncocytic carcinoma 8346” Table 5: Row added: “Gastrointestinal stromal tumor 8963” Table 6: Adenocarcinoma 8140 row Subtypes added: 8145/3, 8144 Row added: “Gastrointestinal stromal tumor 8963” Table 7: Row added: “Gastrointestinal stromal tumor 8963” Table 10: “Adenocarcinoma 8140” row: “Pancreatobiliary-type carcinoma 8163” added as a subtype/variant Table 11: Rows added: “Mixed neuroendocrine non-neuroendocrine neoplasm 8154” “Neuroendocrine carcinoma, NOS 8246” “Neuroendocrine tumor, NOS 8240” Table 13: Rows added "Adenocarcinoma, NOS 8140” “Mixed cell adenocarcinoma 8323” Rows deleted: “Clear cell carcinoma NOS 8310” (moved to subtype/variant of 8140) “Mucinous carcinoma 8480” (moved to subtype/variant of 8140) Table 20: “Liposarcoma, NOS 8850/3” row: Histology code for Myxoid pleomorphic liposarcoma corrected to 8859/3 (used to be 8854)

Malignant CNS Rows added to Table 3: “Cauda equina neuroendocrine tumor 8693/3” “Glioma, NOS 9380” New Rules added. One is M4, which we don’t automate but it will renumber subsequent rules. The other one is M11. Abstract a single primary when separate, non-contiguous tumors are Glioma NOS and a subtype/variant of Glioma NOS. We need a change to how we do 8000/3. Normally 8000 is not included in the tables because that would make 8000 + any other histology multiple primaries via the “different row” rules. But it’s included in the CNS tables for only one specific histology term. We need to exclude it from the different row rule. M12. If 8000 occurs with another histology, it should stop at M12 as questionable with this message: “Unable to determine if 8000/3 is a different row.”
