Suggestion: Remove "GTA" "San Andreas" from title / description #30

Hey

just note that a lot of projects get taken down very fast when they do copyright infrightment. Even more when using title and icon directly as project name and at description, let alone assets. Maybe even just using the name together with screenshots is enough to get an issue.

Just keep that in mind. I would suggest to at least change project name/description/icon to NOT say "GTA" "Grand theft auto" "San Andreas" or contain it's icon and say unofficial & unauthorized bold.

I would agree regarding any original artwork or "GTA", but I doubt the name "San Andreas" can be protected, as the name has been in use for the San Andreas Fault and a nearby lake in California for over a hundred years before GTA San Andreas even was a thing. There is even a more recent movie called "San Andreas". I'm no lawyer, though.

There's been discussion about this before. Yes, it should be changed to not include anything related to original game. This includes title and icon. Nothing more. We can't remove "GTA San Andreas" from description, because this is actually a reimplementation of it's engine.

"Unofficial" should be added in project description.

"San Andreas" is definitely not owned by anyone. It's a geographical entity.

There are other similar projects like MTA, SAMP, OpenRW. Some of them do use original name and icons.

I'm not using this myself but don't want it to see dead soon, hence this issue.

Closing this as I think the suggestion got attention - and it was the only purpose for creating it.
