For non-German speakers: the messages about about key exchange are in light
blue. Messages about connection states (established, lost, timeout) are in
yellow. You have in secureIM the possibility to highlight encrypted messages
with green popups, which I have disabled in my configuration.
Compared with OTR I suggest the same colouring scheme. But I have to say there
is no way to establish an unverified connection with SecureIM (it’s
implicitely verified). Maybe we should mark messages concerning verification in
a different color than yellow. Light red or orange for example.

I think, I'll stick to the colors of the OTR icons as default.
The user can choose different colors on their own.

Ok that’s fine with me, as I can change the colours and icons. What for
messages can occur? I propose two different colouring schemes like in SecureIM:
one for key exchange messages like “Beginning OTR encrypted session”,
“Requesting OTR encrypted session” or “Trying to refresh”. These
messages indicate that some key exchange is in progress. The other scheme is
for confirmation messages like those beginning with “OTR encrypted session
…”.

I do have the popup on each secure send receive enabled in SecureIM and find it
much more convenient than the (admittedly useful) OTR: prefix in the message
itself.
Would love that feature.
