What am I doing wrong?? #18

Open papu2 opened 8 years ago

papu2 commented 8 years ago

Downloaded "Media convertor and muxer" and nothing works!!! Drag and drop does not function In settings none of the btns ie browse, settings work!

Had to install ffmpeg manually and still not a breath out of this add-on.

What is going on?

inbasic commented 8 years ago

Can you take an screenshot of the settings tab and share it here? Are you sure FFmpeg is properly downloaded?

papu2 commented 8 years ago

I am sorry I have got frustrated waiting for response or solution and got rid of it.

The screenshot you requested would just show you the page completely frozen. None of the buttons on your app worked, including Settings, Browse, Drop image folder, etc –. Completely dead. Rest of my add-ons were fine

I installed ffmpeg manually by following instructions of web. But without option of any selection from your apps it was pointless….sry

From what you described, the extension has not been initiated properly. If you are still interested to use it follow this instruction, else you can close this bug report.

  1. Open firefox Error Console (ctrl + shift + j)
  2. Disable the extension
  3. Clear the console
  4. Re-enable the extension

At this point I assume an error will appear in the console. I need an screenshot of the error

Also please provide your Firefox version

papu2 commented 8 years ago

Feeling a bit sorry as I appreciate the hard work you must have put into it ….I reinstalled it again on FF

And here is the screen shot. As I said Browse; Download FFmpeg, More Settings – do not work; on the links for ffmpeg will take you to sites

The other pages come up but I guess because your app does not see ffmpeg library location “drag and drop” don’t work

mcerror

inbasic commented 8 years ago

In both cases, it seems like FFmpeg cannot be found. Try to get it manually from https://www.ffmpeg.org/download.html and point the extension to use the newly downloaded ffmpeg

Trejo123 commented 8 years ago

I'm having the same issue with it (the audio & video conversion) not being able to Browse and find the ffmpeg location manually. also the conversion commands are empty and even if i try to copy it from the list provided it wont hold or save the command. I even try to hit the reset button to see if it would go back to stock but that didn't even populate anything in the command list. I then uninstalled and reinstalled the media converter & muxer with it still having the same issue.

I also did get the ffmpeg manually and this fixed my issue with originally downloading but did nothing for the converter

inbasic commented 8 years ago

@Trejo123 please provide the screenshot of the console by following the steps. You issue seems to be different as MC is not initiating properly.

Trejo123 commented 8 years ago

not sure how to "2. Disable the extension 3. Clear the console 4. Re-enable the extension" but here's what i got New Word 2007 Document.docx sorry i dont seem to have my pics working on my computer so i just put it in work

inbasic commented 8 years ago

I need the error console screenshot after the extension is re-enabled to have the errors; To disable and re-enable the extension go to about:addons To clear console, press the trash button

inbasic commented 8 years ago

If you prefer, I can check the problem myself if you can allow me to access your PC for a minute; https://www.teamviewer.com

Trejo123 commented 8 years ago

sorry its late, i got what you ment on the extension stuff. here's what i got New Word 2007 Document.docx

I also have 48.0.2 vers of firefox

inbasic commented 8 years ago

I think you missed one step. First disable the extension, clear the console and then re-enable the extension and open the UI by pressing the toolbar button. Now take an screenshot of the console.

Trejo123 commented 8 years ago

Actually i did it correct. it surprised me too. i'll do it again and see if anything comes up. do i need to open the program or something else to get response?

inbasic commented 8 years ago

You just need to open the converter window by pressing the toolbar button.

Trejo123 commented 8 years ago

New Word 2007 Document.docx got it!

inbasic commented 8 years ago

Okay. Close the converter window. In a browser tab, open "about:config". Search for extensions.jid1-kps5PrGBNtzSLQ@jetpack.ffmpeg. What is the value? Change it to the address of your downloaded ffmpeg.exe

Trejo123 commented 8 years ago

i dont see any "ffmpeg" but i do recognize the commands for some of the programs features New Word 2007 Document.docx

inbasic commented 8 years ago

That's weird! Can you try to manually create this pref.

Right click inside the "about:config" window. Create a new String pref. For name use extensions.jid1-kps5PrGBNtzSLQ@jetpack.ffmpeg. For the value use the path to FFmpeg (like c:\\...\ffmpeg.exe)

Trejo123 commented 8 years ago

New Word 2007 Document.docx done, just tested it and it works

Also i know from before when i had it, it would download both files, convert it w/o the converter open and then delete the audio, while just living the final joined file left. is there some way to do this so i dont have to keep deleting x number of extra files?

And Thanks by the way!

inbasic commented 8 years ago

Great! I am still not sure why the pref has not been created automatically. @lucashrossi , @papu2 guys can you confirm that manually creating the pref fixes this issue?

@Trejo123 please open a bug report for this new feature you requested here.

Trejo123 commented 8 years ago

will do thanks alot! Great program again by the way!

papu2 commented 8 years ago

As I previously mentioned I had already manually installed ffmpeg but to my f drive and my FF is 48.0.2 (latest I believe)

I followed the manual addition of string to about:config and it worked after a bit of tinkering. You can see from the snapshot the app came out of its frozen state, but still could not see the path (ie missing ffmpeg.exe at the end) and showed the red banner on top... I ignored this and cancelled the action requested.

I persuaded the app to the correct path and this time it registered it, however all menus APART from "Settings" were not selectable and greyed out. I closed the app and re-opened and Hurray! All menus function and I tried "some testing" and it looks reasonable (see second picture)

Obviously, this needs fixing at source and thoroughly tested before applying an update.

This is the correct state capture

Hi again, (happy new year) No problem with Converter until now, it doesnt do the job when drag an audio file: Firefox 50.1.0 64bit Thanks!

console

inbasic commented 7 years ago

@lucashrossi there is no info in the error log. Clear the log and open the converter window and see if an error is added or not. If not, try to convert a media and see if an error is generated or not.

lucashrossi commented 7 years ago

Ok... console2

ivanov007 commented 7 years ago

I'm getting the same error as @lucashrossi image

ivanov007 commented 7 years ago

@lucashrossi I was able to walk around this issue with the old open-close fix, sometimes it works at the 3rd try, but some times it takes more than that, hope it works for you too

inbasic commented 7 years ago

the new WebExtension version has better error handling; https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/media-conversion-tool/

Try it and let me know if it works

ivanov007 commented 7 years ago

thanks @inbasic I tried to extract a mp3 from a random mp4 file, this is what I get, btw I used the same ffmpeg from Media Converter and Muxer 0.2.4 image

lucashrossi commented 7 years ago

Hi, the WebExtension version work for me, converting WEBM opus file to mp3 only when i use "choose file" option not "drag them". Thanks!

inbasic commented 7 years ago

@lucashrossi seems like this is Firefox issue with drag and drop. Using the developer version I can convert by dropping media files.

zolutions commented 7 years ago

@inbasic had kind of the same problems on mac osx 10.10 even though I installed ffmpeg nothing worked. what worked out for me eventually is this (actually quite simple ;) : 1) downloading dmg from: https://www.ffmpeg.org/download.html

2) Open firefox: In a browser tab, open "about:config". Search for extensions.jid1-kps5PrGBNtzSLQ@jetpack.ffmpeg. extract the path i.e. /Users/xxx/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Profiles/69c3xrzd.default/ffmpeg

3) open new finder window use shift+cmd+g paste the extracted path which leads you to the appropriate folder

4) open the dmg file drag and drop the ffmpeg file into the folder

5) you are ready to go!

Hope this is of any help! Many thanks for the dev work & a lovely day to all of you!
