Is TDM v1 Deprecated/Abandoned? #7

I see that both addons are still available on AMO as well as here on GitHub.

Do they have different purposes?

Thanks, Doug®

So the v1 is available for almost all platforms including native android build and is a pretty mature project. The issue is that the new Firefox does not support fileSystem API and Chrome is depreciating packaged applications. So I had to rewrite the entire thing from scratch! The new v2 version still needs some work.

I am still unclear what I'll do with my v1 version. Most likely I'll deprecate it once the v2 is mature enough

Thanks for the info!

My understanding is that Mozilla is continuing to improve/expand their API.

TIA (Trying a little markdown from Fennec on my phone.)

I think you can make ɪᴛ available on Pale Moon.

Grossdm commented 5 years ago

@KrasnayaPloshchad,

Does Pale Moon have its own addon site similar to AMO? Also, does it have an Android version?

Thanks for your help.

KrasnayaPloshchad commented 5 years ago

OK @Grossdm, Pale Moon have its own addon site: https://addons.palemoon.org/extensions/ Pale Moon has developed Android version in the past, but their community doesn’t active in it, so they’re no longer released new version, the latest version is 25.9.6.

That's unfortunate - about the mobile browser.

IMO, having good alternatives to Chrome is crucial to the Android platform.

May I ask why you use Pale Moon vs. Mozilla's standard release of Firefox? Perhaps it was the move from XUL?

KrasnayaPloshchad commented 5 years ago

OK. I use both PM and Firefox, it would be nice if you can also made TDM available on PM, I think. And there is one thing prevent me to use TDM, that is #1 and so on. Since PM can reseive legacy add-ons including XUL and SDK add-on (https://github.com/pratikabu/scrolltotop/pull/52), it’s possible to create TDM for PM.

I saw Firefox and Yandex can be used as alternatives to Chrome for Android, all of them allowed to install addon.
