Citations in R markdown - proposed updates #270

Description

This proposes changes to PR #269. See commit messages; most notable are:

change directory name to r_xxx. In that range there is at least one other Rmd related tutorial already (r_inbomd).
markdown syntax fixes, including for images
support for definition_lists
added two more images: position of the VME button + overview of the insert-citation window
