Issue displaying special characters (umlaut, accents, etc.) #129

Special characters are displayed as a question mark: image

This is probably caused by not properly encoding/decoding using utf-8. Should look into this.

Saw this issue:

Basically everywhere we need umlauts :)

Seems to be mainly an issue with the translations. DB-values, etc. do seem to be displayed correctly
