currently one has to wrap java collections in scala collections and access javabean properties as 'user.getId' instead of 'user.id' from ftl

Yeap, the idea is very Shealthy. I think we should have an option to delegate to standard FreeMarker wrapper if ScalaBaseWrapper fails. Thanks for the tip, I'll commit a patch just as soon as I return from my vacation.
