NERDTree: opening a file with t clears out the NERDTree buffer

ctrlp.vim

if only one buffer/tab is open it shows error then clears it out
if multiple buffers are open it closes the current one

it is playing a lot nicer than it used to but it still has some issues. when opening in a multi tab environment it sometimes switches tabs when managing a remote terminal
