In order for this font to be truly better than Futura:

Serifs on capital Is generally don't look good in Sans fonts, imho. Personally, I quite like the descending J. A geometric sans should go with a straight leg for the R. Though I do agree with your points about the f and the g (though a single-story alternative should be kept in). The f especially would be more consistent with the t if its crossbar was moved to the middle.

Apart from that, I already prefer Jost* over Futura :)

Matters of taste ... to me it should have ligatures, see below ... Aesthetically, if I look at the letter forms, the letter "s" doesn't appear upright in some of the weights. It seems to tilt to the right because the visual center of the upper half is to the right of the visual center of the lower half. Something not easily explained in terms of geometry but more about how it seems to the eye. Maybe this could be fixed by subtly flattening the terminals so they don't bend inwards as much?

Perhaps alternative shapes for the I (with serifs), J (baseline, especially for all-capital typesetting in restricted space), g (double-storey) could be included as OpenType alternates.

thanks for the feedback and discussion you guys.

I'm going to shy away from making any major changes to the underlying letter forms, but refining the "s" and "f" seems like a good idea.
