Please see screenshots here: https://goo.gl/photos/iWzAQ62jHNDACLwQ8 . I don't see this error on desktop.

@damooo, We want the dictionaries to work as widely and smoothly as possible. Above all, we should aim to help not frustrate users.. So we need to cut down on HTML, and retain only what is absolutely necessary (hyperlinks, bold / italic text, footnotes). Forget the colors and fonts, please. Let us keep it simple. Can you please fix all the dictionaries with HTML to meet these guidelines?

damooo commented 7 years ago

already started removing them. paribhashika, and purana enncyclopedia don't have anything nonsense now. only heading, hyperlinks, side headings. only vedic index is remained.. i thought it too working well on all devices, i don't have personal smart phone, and hense cannot check. only simulated through archon on linux. and here it worked well, may be due to change of html engine. and in colordict there is some configuration too to allow htmlified.

Thanks, @damooo - please update once its done. The html tags work most of the time, but this is one of the cases where it breaks, so better to increase simplicity and be conservative.

PS: thanks to the devanAgarI headwords to telugu dictionaries, I was able to look up the sanskrit word करटि, which is not found in any sanskrit dictionary!

@damooo - I still see lots of style tags in purANa-encyclopedia.babylon_final. Could we get rid of them and stay minimal?

damooo commented 7 years ago

Ok. will do.

damooo commented 7 years ago

Can you list some articles which look more styled, so that i can understand which tags i can remove.. apart from initial header part , only side headings, paragraphs are used in remaining. header i will trim. and remaining i will do based on your feedback.

vvasuki commented 7 years ago

No particular concern with looks, @damooo - it is just that I don't think that the styling adds much to the user experience.

vvasuki commented 7 years ago

For simplicity, we want minimal styling and html.

To be precise, In colordict there are three views

  1. Textview - hyperlinks are seen, but the style instruction is also seen.
  2. Textview spacing - same as abovr
  3. Webview - looks like HTML, but no hyperlinks
