Division symbol missing in transliteration #68

Open drdhaval2785 opened 3 years ago

indic-transliteration version - 2.2.8

$ sanscript -f slp1 -t devanagari "1/6"
१꣡६

It seems to be related to accent handling which happenned recently. Earlier script worked well.

There needs to be some logic which says that the item before or after the division mark is a number, and hence retain the division mark. If it is following a vowel, it can be changed to accent marks, if needed.

I think this issue would be related to slp1 encoding only. Only SLP1 uses it as an accent mark.

Also request to add something like 1/5 in transliteration tests, so that it does not get broken again.

Does it not brush the dust under the carpet only? Earlier, 'slp1' was giving this error. Now 'slp1_accented' will give this error.

I would love to have accent feature also to be bug free. Can we tweak somewhere in the transliteration code, to say that accents will be applicable only after vowels and M and H? Or is there some downside? Do vedic texts have accents over numbers also?

Very rarely in sAmaveda - ब꣢र्ही᳐ऽ३षी꣡ऽ२३꣡४꣡५꣡ , तो꣡याऽ᳒२᳒इ.
