Grid View #126

What about option for grid view with preview thumbnails ?

While on the grid view the users still need to see the tree at the right.

So UI wise when people click on grid view, remove the two columns other than
the name one. Now fill the space with the thumbnails of the files in hte
folder. The actions can be iconized at the bottom of the thumbnail or on hover.
A semi- transparent hover play button on top of the thumbnails for the preview
or view of the file.

That would be a great usability element on the application.

Otherwise this is a great app.

I have attached a wireframe to explain my idea.

Thanks,

Thanks for the input, I've had grid view in todo list since day one. Perhaps in
1.8

Hi Samuli,

I was about to make this suggestion when I came across this enhancement
request. Sanjeev put it perfectly. This would be a major enhancement, as it
would take Mollify even further with respect to serving as a capable Digital
Asset Management tool. Hopefully we'll be seeing this functionality in a
soon-to-be released new version of Mollify.

Thanks again for all your great work!

Cheers,
S

Thanks for the input. This is coming up slowly, the 1.7.8 already has an
experimental version of the grid view. This can be enabled with following
setting in host page:

<meta name="mollify:property" content="grid-view=true">

This also means, that it is either the traditional list view, or the grid view.
Naturally it won't be like this in the final version. There's also another
setting, which enables thumbnails:

<meta name="mollify:property" content="show-thumbnails=true">

I'm not sure what will be the final form of the grid view, but quite likely not
exactly as the Sanjeev's proposal. Probably there will be three view options:
list view, small icons and big icons. Folder hierarchy has not been on my list,
but if I add it, I think it will be a collapsible panel on the left side.

Hi Samuli,

I just checked this out. Great start! I think offering a list view, small
icons and big icons would be spectacular, especially if you allowed users to
modify the size of the big icons (aka thumbnails). This would allow users to
present beautiful photo galleries. It would be great if you allowed users to
select multiple files when they are presented as thumbnails, so that users
could select only the photos they want to download (using check boxes).

A collapsible panel on the left would rock!

I just want to thank you for your great work!

Cheers,
S

Hello Samuli

I tried this settings in the 1.7.8

Just as a feed back the thumbnails don't work very good, take a long time to
load them.

The preview shut be instead and not a curtain and all thumbnails dont always
load the right way.

In the grid view what i thing looks nice and work fine, a change here shut be
to change the ballon picture to the real images ( make ballon images to
thumbnails )

Know this is not a final version, so keep up the good work and then i hope you
find this feedback useful.

Lets us know about updates in this feature, had to turn it off again to keep
the system working nicely.
