catch `ImportError` #6

This isn't really a nice solution for Issue #3. I'm open to better ways to solve this.

Would you able to roll this in to a 0.3.10 release. Currently I have to disable the mkp, before upgrading then re-enable afterwards 😅

You could ask in the forums, there's the exchange subforum for developing extensions. Someone there will probably know how to solve this properly.
