Embed video playlist on website home page #496

We should show more from our game on our website home page.

For the moment the best playlist is the tech preview playlist:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VC2eyxCNVfw&list=PLCbZc-GgCGzLhkGS5l850tjCQrPUeapK6

In the previous version of our website we had this playlist in the blog section. We should bring it back and this time a bit more logically placed.

At a later point, this playlist should be replaced with actually game trailers and videos which are showing gameplay.

I am willing to pick this up, just need some UI design guidance.

@movabo Could you maybe mentor this?

movabo commented 6 years ago

I think it should look somewhat like that: capture Either as own site (with a new entry to the nav) or just below the download button so you can see it when you scoll down. But please make sure to use "youtube-nocookie.com" at the embed and not "youtube.com". And it would be great if the margin below the video (at the screenshot) would be removed as well. :)

Croydon commented 6 years ago

Please no extra site. The home page is there for a good first impression, which we can best get done with videos. That's why the issue says clearly home page :)

Fohlen commented 6 years ago

Maybe @alwasa0b might dig into this? 💛

why no extra site? its always hard to embedd a yt-video in a nice looking fashion imo. @terencode maybe you got some ideas?

If its not doable to look good on the home site, i think an extra site wouldnt hurt

alwasa0b commented 6 years ago

Yep, working on it. Let see how it looks on the main page first and go from there.

brainloc commented 6 years ago

@Croydon I'll move it up like it shows in the screenshot.

My personal problem with this (having yt vids on the website and having yt vids on the home site which drives the image you expect): the videos do not give a good impression how inexor is currently. They are mostly proof of concepts from 2 years ago.. Yes that's a different issue, maybe "add up to date YouTube videos and remove non-official ones". If we can integrate the videos in a nice looking way and update the videos it would be really cool :)
