JAAKT Project Proposal Feedback

Decision Context:

• From reading the first section of your project proposal I was a bit confused about what your decision context was

  • Are you presenting your information to the HALA? Or are you trying to predict where houses will be built

• From my understanding, you are trying to predict how many people will lose housing with the influx of increased housing prices

  • This sounds like a cool topic that can include a lot of parameters in your analysis
  • You could maybe try to explore what is causing the increased prices, or even predict which neighborhoods will increase in property value

Data:

• How will you acquire the data from the census, and how will you be able to label whether they are 'on the verge of homelessness'
  • Are you defining an income level that would be considered to be on track for affordable housing?

Feasibility:

• How feasible will your ability to answer your 'decisions to inform' be?
  • How will you tackle estimating how many houses could be built?
• Do you think the scope is too large?
  • I think there are too many relationships being made in your modeling approach, and it may be hard to complete them in time

All in all:

• You have a super cool project idea, I am excited to see what you guys come with!

Hey @asrinagesh thank you for your feedback. It was very clear and we turned it into a few action items. Specifically:

• we are going to clarify completely (and scope-down) our decision context.
• Explore other, more narrow areas to observe data trends.
• Clarify our data sources (which involves finding them, to a certain extent)
• We are thinking about how to estimate housing-building-feasibility on plots of land currently. We will let you know what we come up with.
