Discussion: Look and Feel #2

As I bash out lots of text in a notebook, it's feeling very text heavy. I was thinking it would be nice, in a perfect world, to commision my team of graphic dfesigner to create some icon and otrher graphical elements to include in the notebooks to make more aesthetically pleasing and also communicate the info in a more engaging way. I don't have such a team, so I thouyght it would be worth having a discussion about how want to approach the "look and feel" of the notebooks.

An important note is that we can't do much for the first iteration of the lectures in 2 weeks time, but it would be good to think about this material in the longer term so graphical elements could be an item to work on fro PangeoLectures v2.0 (or1.1 0r 0.2 or 0.1.1 or snow leopard or vista etc depending on your preferred numbering.)

Any thoughts @tam203 @timo0thy ?

  • Do we want to create some graphical feel?
  • Who might get involved
  • What existing graphics around pangeo and other stuff are there that we can lean on
  • what elements should we be considering
