Here is the first notebook on the use cases for scientific compute and the existing models of delivering that. I imagining these notebooks both as a standalone resource and as the basis for lectures, so they're quite wordy. This is also because it helps me think to write out my thoughts fully rather just add vague bullet points. I'm now sure how this fits with what people are esxpecting from this so I'm happy trim the words and take a different approach. Also see discussion in #2 w.r.t. wordiness/aesthetics.
