Modelling language types, like layperson synonyms, definitions etc #56

Some ontologies use oio:synonymType to say things like: oio:synonymType xx:Layperson. We have been discussing recently with @mellybelly, @nicolevasilevsky and @JadeHotchkiss on how to generalise this for definitions, or in fact any kind of lexical information (perhaps even comments). So basically the question is: can, and should, we generalise the synonymType modelling pattern for these cases?

Who else is interested in discussing this more? Who has worked "layperson" definitions?

The other alternative is to use properties like omo:layPersonDefinition and just create annotation properties for the cases we care about.

The latter seems a little more straightforward; if I understand the former the synonym Type would an annotation property over iao: alternativeTerm?

I'm interested in a lay person description for DUO as well, happy to follow general guidance. We will probably need multi language support (ie layperson definition in English, Japanese, French...) So using rich annotations seems a bit heavy?

Agree strongly with Melanie. Use a different property. Even dc:description
