Added python 2.6 support (change nested with statements)
Made progress counter thread safe
Added threads argument (3000+ threads will give "can't start new thread" error on OSX, this might fix issue #4)
Remove duplicate permutations (approx 0.5%)
Added word-NUM and wordNUM permutations
Added A lookups (not only CNAME)
Added -e flag to ignore permutations that are already in the input file

Thanks @fransr and @avlidienbrunn :) In the future, I'll update the script so that the subprocess call isn't required. This PR addressed some much needed features and bugs in altdns. Cheers.
