Pros of removing base templates:

Don’t need to worry about templates changing if/when you upgrade RDM
It is easier to customize documents for your needs, vs tracking back through blocks

Cons:

You won’t be able to take advantage of process upgrades from RDM, but I suspect only us at Innolitics would want this anyway! I think the real thing that people will want to be able to upgrade is the audit system yaml files; this will let people find issues with their documents, and address them as appropriate.
