[TTS Extended] ANR on Droid X #44

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Go the application drawer, touch/launch the TTS Extended icon
2. Change the "Default Language", then change the "Default Engine"
3. The com.google.tts process will now max out CPU

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expect the service to gracefully go to minimal CPU usage. Instead, the
com.google.tts keeps using 98~99% of the CPU

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

Droid X - Stock, with development mode enabled.

Please provide any additional information below.

When this happened initially, I was unable to shutdown the phone. I ended up
forcing a shutdown by removing the battery.

A bug report has been created. It is a 2-part file. The first part is the
output of the adb shell command "bugreport". The second part is the output from
"top".

I was able to reproduce this 2 times today. I can provide additional debug data
if needed.

Updated steps to reproduce:

I don't think you need to make changes to any preferences in TTS.

As I was posting the bug report, I noticed the bug happening again. This time,
I only opened up the TTS service without making any changes.

Note that changing preferences in other applications, e.g., browser->text size,
does not cause any abnormal CPU usage.

Added bugreport from this second incident.

A comment on the wiki hints that another Droid X user has the same problem.

Not supported on Droid X (e.g. Froyo and higher).
