Overlay Not Displaying at all

EDMC seems to be working buy I'm not getting any overlay in the game since the new update. I'm using the BioScan plugin for exobiology and the data is being displayed in the EDMC window but again nothing in-game. Attaching log to see if that helps at all/ Thanks.

@Shep8224 have you tried using EDR? That should come with a version of the overlay too.

Looks to me it's no longer being updated. Overlay is intermittent for me, after uninstall/reinstall of EDMC the overlay worked for maybe a minute then stopped again. Too bad too, it was really a useful thing. UPDATE: Found this discussion and did the below (but I ran EDMCOverlay.exe as administrator):

start Elite (the game proper, not just the launcher) and alt-tab back to windows navigate to the EDMC Overlay folder (should be C:\Users\\AppData\Local\EDMarketConnector\plugins\EDMCOverlay) launch EDMCoverlay.exe launch EDMC itself alt-tab back to the game. The EDMCoverlay welcome message should appear

Still working, displays as before.

I have also seen a change in behaviour recently, likely caused by a game update (as EDMCOverlay hasn't changed for ages):

Previously, launching EDMC first before the game, then launching the game reliably meant that the overlay displayed, unless I then quit the game and re-launched it (usually when switching to the Steam version to play my alt).

Now, launching EDMC first means that only a small area in the top-left corner of the overlay displays, and the rest doesn't. I have to quit EDMC and then relaunch it once the game is running, and the overlay displays correctly. I usually do this at the game main menu.

Sometimes the overlay will fail after a time again (as @towdawg you mention is also happening for you) but other times it will be reliable for hours.

Gone thru a CZ and the only thing I did wrong was I already had ED running and I didn't think to relog so BGS Tally didn't know a game was in session. Oops. Start the game last.

Display still works.

You can start the game first, as long as you only go as far as the main menu, then launch EDMC, then enter the game.

Two days without a problem. If I shut down and start normally, no overlay. Admin priv may be what it needed.

Update, well after several days of everything working as normal (BGS TALLY and EDR), the update broke everything again.

Another update: I open the ED launcher, open the game to the main menu, then launch EDMC Overlay with admin priv, then launch EDMC and jump into the game, 4 of 5 times it works, the 5th I have to start over.

I’ve had a user report that it’s working fine on Win 10 but not Win 11.

I use Win 11, and noticed this problem start about a month ago (maybe a bit longer). So I suspect the cause was a Win 11 update.
