Request: Ability to resize ontology editor taxonomy tree pane #39

We are building our domain ontologies on the mid-level Common Core Ontologies which build on the upper level Basic Formal Ontology. As you can imagine, we can pretty quickly get 10 or more levels deep into the taxonomy and on some screens the class names are entirely hidden until you scroll horizontally.

Hi there! As we've also done work extending off of BFO and CCO, we're aware of the tendency to end up with very deep class hierarchies. 😅 Improvements to the Ontology Editor experience to allow resizing of panes of interest is on our near term roadmap with several stages of rollout. I'll keep you posted on those release timelines as they formalize. In the meantime, there is a filter in the hierarchies which can remove all classes that are not being used by classes defined within your working ontology. We've found this to be especially helpful when developing on top of CCO so all the unused classes don't clutter up the view. You can find a description of the filter, called "Hide unused imports" under this section of our public user guide.

Checking to see if this is likely be wrapped into the development cycle soon. It is still an issue for us
