On Ubuntu there is no obvious way to save chain data to a directory other than
/home/<username>/.local/share/Daedalus/mainnet
. This is a problem because Daedalus also does not support pruning. I would like to save chain data to an external hard drive. I would actually prefer this feature to pruning because I want to continue storing a copy of the entire chain.I'm curious why this wasn't implemented previously? Has their simply been no time to do it? Or are there more complex considerations at play? Is it the case that allowing users to save chain data to an external drive would somehow compromise the security of the user or even the greater blockchain? I'm not sure how it would, but I know a lot of thought has gone into the design of Cardano and its critical infrastructure.
Thank you!
