I think it would be nice to change the color or indicate in someway that the friendship has already been requested and you are waiting for the other person to respond.

it should show 'Resend' instead of 'Befriend' in that case, right?

Yes, I think this is working now. Also I really like the pop up, gives you a nice feeling that it worked.
