Dark Horizon fails to launch after first run #213

Dark Horizon will happily run the first time, but the second time you try to launch the program, it gets stuck showing simply 'Loading Dark Horizon...'.

Curiously that screenshot is also transparent. Do we not pre-fill our main canvas?

I wonder if we're corrupting the settings file somehow?
