PDG Integration #2398

Expected Behavior

Every year the PDG is issuing the official list of identifiers and corresponding papers in INSPIRE: http://pdg.lbl.gov/2017/pdgid/PDGIdentifiers.html

What we need to do is to have a procedure that can be triggered (e.g. via a CLI, since it's an yearly process for which we usually receive an notification via email) that downloads the corresponding particle -> paper mapping and enrich the corresponding papers. Note papers that are no longer referred should be cleaned up (i.e. removing the dangling PDG identifiers).

Additionally we should load somewhere the mapping identifier -> description and use it at display time when users mouse-hover a particle.

E.g. see record https://inspirehep.net/record/1421100

cc: @michamos @StellaCh This is one of those things that are out of any milestone but that we should not forget nevertheless.

StellaCh commented 7 years ago

Ok noted. Does this happen regularly during a specific month every year?

kaplun commented 7 years ago

Nope. Unfortunately not.

Indeed not. Whenever they are ready. Usually some time in the summer.
