For some food codes (e.g. pasta, rice, meat dishes, other products such as biscuits and cakes) in order to allocate them to the correct food groups in NDNS RP the food codes will need to trigger a probe question asking the participant one of the following:
“Was this a ready-made food (that is, a food that requires no preparation, for example a ready meal, microwave meal, ready prepared salads, sandwiches)?”
“Was this a manufactured food? (that is you didn’t make it from scratch yourself, for example custard, biscuits, cakes)”
• Yes
• No
These questions will allow the flagging of foods in the tool and allow data checking and allocation to correct food groups. The Intake24 editor tool can be adapted to include the attributes above and the BRC Diet Platform will assign the relevant question to food codes.
