Naming of the Apps in Teams is confusing #329

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe. There are 2 apps in Teams: GitHUb and GitHub Enterprise. My enterprise accounts think that they should be using Enterprise. The name does not make clear that one of them is for GHEC customers and the other one is for GHES (self-hosted) GitHub instance.

Describe the solution you'd like Rename the connectors to: GitHub Enterprise SERVER GitHub Add a description for cloud vs server

Describe alternatives you've considered A clear and concise description of any alternative solutions or features you've considered.

Additional context Add any other context or screenshots about the feature request here.

maybe you could even make it configurable, since some companies might have their own "name" or description of the inhouse GHES solution? Or is it sufficient to just adapt the manifest.json and change the name property in there?

Ugh, this creates so much confusion.I have tried to contact product owners in GitHub to ask someone to fix it. It's so confusing. Here's way too much information about the two apps.

The main issue is that: The word "Enterprise" is a complete misdirection for actual enterprise IT teams... because "GitHub for Teams" is the officially supported app, and it supports GitHub Enterprise Server AND Cloud.

"GitHub Enterprise by Microsoft Teams Ecosystem"

^ This should be marked as unofficial and "Enterprise" removed from name, and named "GitHub Third Party app"

"GitHub for Teams by Microsoft Corporation" (also both on GHES and GHEC!)

^ Should clearly be "official"
