Regression: Footnotes displayed badly in pull request messages #1889

Describe the bug All the behavior described in #1321 appears to be occurring again. When writing footnotes in a Slack message, the link is displayed as a private channel Slack link and the return link has also displays unintended content.

All reproduction steps, expected behavior, and screenshots from #1321 appear to apply
