Tommamgo commented 6 months ago

I am experiencing a persistent issue with the webcam driver on my Dell Latitude 9430 laptop. Despite temporary fixes, the webcam fails to work consistently, and this issue has been ongoing for 2 months. Prior to this, everything was functioning correctly. System Details

Laptop Model: Dell Latitude 9430
Operating System: Fedora
Kernel Version: 6.7.10-200.fc39.x86_64
Driver Installed: kmod-intel-ipu6-6.7.10-200.fc39.x86_64.x86_64 (version 0.0-11.20240226gitfb4c170.fc39)

Steps Already Taken

I have attempted to address this issue by reinstalling the webcam driver, which provided a temporary fix, but the problem persists. The specific actions I've taken include reinstalling kmod-intel-ipu6-* packages for my kernel version. However, the webcam functionality ceased shortly after each attempt.

Additionally, I followed the instructions outlined in this guide by Hans de Goede to try and resolve the webcam driver issues. Despite carefully following the steps provided, my webcam still fails to work consistently.

Request for Assistance

I am seeking guidance on further steps I can take to diagnose and resolve this issue. Any advice on additional information to provide, diagnostic steps to follow, or known issues with this hardware/software configuration would be greatly appreciated.

If there are specific logs or command outputs that would assist in diagnosing this problem, please let me know, and I will provide them. I am willing to provide any further details required to help resolve this issue.
