The kernel recommendation is for an upstream kernel. CentOS will have backports on their 3.10 kernel. It should be considered a developer preview though but I have tested ixpdimm-cli on CentOS 7.4.
If you want to skip compiling, the EPEL packages can be found here: https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/jhli/ixpdimm_sw/
In README, it suggests to run on Kernel 4.12 or newer. In case, I need to use ixpdimm-sw in older kernel (e.g. Kernel 3.10/CentOS 7.4), will I be able to compile the tools and run on CentOS 7.4? If not, what is the roadblock?
I just plan to run this in memory mode. Just want to get the CLI tool running.
Thank you.
