Issue Playing Back Youtube VP9 HDR10 Content #773

I have a strange issue; when using Kodi and the built in Youtube addon with the inputstream adaptive addon for playing back DASH content, my Arc A380 seems to have issues with playback - I get a blank screen most of the time.

I am running under Archlinux, and see this issue with both the repo/stable version of kodi, ffmpeg, and libva, as well as the -git versions available in the AUR.

If I disable VP9 VAAPI decoding, CPU decoding does work.

Interestingly, if I download the youtube video with yt-dlp, I am then able to play it with hardware decoding without issue.

I'm not sure if there's something wrong with how the DASH stream is assembled/used by Kodi, or if this is an issue with libva itself.

The issue is somewhat inconsistent at times as after playing the downloaded file and re-enabling HDR in Youtube, it worked...strange.

Regardless this is a "just in case this is actually the fault of the Arc card" issue...as I've not gotten anywhere talking to the Kodi crew, despite their helpfulness.
