that... general last commits were 2 years a go..

It is. At least there are no plans to revive the effort here. However, work on making Chromium work with Wayland continues in other places: Igalia has been working on adding support for Wayland upstream for a while now, and we're all still around on the #ozone-wayland IRC channel on Freenode.
