Ventilation Estimation #46

Determining ventilation from CO2 rates

Using CO2 values, we could try and estimate the ventilation rate. There are two primary methods to do this:

  1. Steady-state method
  2. Decay method

Steady-state method

The steady-state method takes advantage of the idea that we have a constant outdoor source and a constant indoor concentration.

Decay method

The decay method is a bit trickier since we have to assume that the participant has left the room i.e. there are no more CO2 sources present.

We can get a better estimate for some of the volumes of the rooms, by cross-referencing the addresses with apartment complexes. Then to determine the layout, we can see how many roommates the participants had.

Initial estimates are complete - could use a sensitivity analysis though
