Bad author, J #22

seabelis commented 4 years ago

J is an invalid author profile. Works should be reassigned to the correct authors. https://openlibrary.org/authors/OL4654117A/J

bicolino34 commented 2 years ago

I reassigned authors for most works, but there are three that I can't find any information about

BrittanyBunk commented 2 years ago

@bicolino34 which ones are those? Maybe I can help the rest?

bicolino34 commented 2 years ago

@BrittanyBunk OLIVER GOLDSMITH, AUGUST STRINDBERG, SPECIAL EDUCATION LEADERSHIP SERIES: THE RIGHT TO AN EDUCATION MANDATE. Here is possible edition for OLIVER GOLDSMITH https://www.worldcat.org/title/oliver-goldsmith/oclc/422177977&referer=brief_results There a few books with that name but with different authors. This one seems the most possible because author (Norman Jeffares) has letter J in his surname

BrittanyBunk commented 2 years ago

@bicolino34 cool, but where're the records on the Open Library to compare this to?

bicolino34 commented 2 years ago

@BrittanyBunk OLIVER GOLDSMITH https://openlibrary.org/works/OL11148443W/OLIVER_GOLDSMITH AUGUST STRINDBERG https://openlibrary.org/works/OL11148433W SPECIAL EDUCATION https://openlibrary.org/works/OL11148450W/SPECIAL_EDUCATION_LEADERSHIP_SERIES_THE_RIGHT_TO_AN_EDUCATION_MANDATE

BrittanyBunk commented 2 years ago

@bicolino34 got it. I'll try to find it

BrittanyBunk commented 2 years ago

@bicolino34 for the Oliver Goldsmith, there's some ideas: I think this one's it: https://www.betterworldbooks.com/product/detail/The-Works-of-Oliver-Goldsmith-----with-Introductions--Notes--and-a-Life-of-Oliver-Goldsmith--by-John-Francis-Waller--9781241562434

BrittanyBunk commented 2 years ago

@bicolino34 I figured out August Stringberg. The full name of this person is "Johan August Strindberg" https://www.poemhunter.com/august-strindberg/biography/ .

BrittanyBunk commented 2 years ago

@bicolino34 the author of the last book is 'Richard A. Johnson" https://eric.ed.gov/?id=ED115001

bicolino34 commented 2 years ago

@BrittanyBunk for the Oliver Goldsmith, my idea is that a book about the author Oliver Goldsmith, here are some options: https://www.worldcat.org/title/oliver-goldsmith/oclc/987412559&referer=brief_results https://www.worldcat.org/title/oliver-goldsmith/oclc/422177977&referer=brief_results https://www.worldcat.org/title/oliver-goldsmith/oclc/3542954&referer=brief_results https://www.worldcat.org/title/oliver-goldsmith/oclc/4942713&referer=brief_results https://www.worldcat.org/title/oliver-goldsmith/oclc/5218704&referer=brief_results As it is impossible to correctly identify which one fits, I suggest add data of one of the above to that work and add others as new works

bicolino34 commented 2 years ago

@BrittanyBunk as for August Strindberg I think that's also book about author, his life, bibliography etc but there is much more books about him ( https://www.worldcat.org/search?q=August+Strindberg&fq=&dblist=638&start=1&qt=page_number_link ). I suggest do same as with Oliver Goldsmith

bicolino34 commented 2 years ago

@bicolino34 the author of the last book is 'Richard A. Johnson" https://eric.ed.gov/?id=ED115001

Thank you for finding info. Here are some other links to third book: https://www.worldcat.org/title/special-education-leadership-series-volume-iii-the-right-to-an-education-mandate-implications-for-special-education-leadership-personnel/oclc/1061387346&referer=brief_results https://www.worldcat.org/title/right-to-an-education-mandate-implications-for-special-education-leadership-personnel/oclc/730005716&referer=brief_results https://www.worldcat.org/title/special-education-leadership-series-volume-iii-the-right-to-an-education-mandate-implications-for-special-education-leadership-personnel/oclc/424996451&referer=brief_results Please, add all the info to works because I at the moment often receive "503 Service Unavailable" error when trying to reach the site.

BrittanyBunk commented 2 years ago

@bicolino34 it sounds like I should look for all of them all over again as a bibliography. So you're saying it won't work - the 'works' of the person then?

BrittanyBunk commented 2 years ago

@bicolino34 you gave me a bad link. That's why. Here's the correct one: https://openlibrary.org/works/OL11148450W/SPECIAL_EDUCATION_LEADERSHIP_SERIES_THE_RIGHT_TO_AN_EDUCATION_MANDATE

BrittanyBunk commented 2 years ago

@bicolino34 I think this'll be good to do 'divide and conquer' style. I'll look for the 1st 2 books while you add the info for the 3rd, now that you have the correct link.

bicolino34 commented 2 years ago

The problem with accessing site seems to be because of a planned power outage of their provider. ( https://twitter.com/openlibrary/status/1482038015237230595?t=UwPy2cfdnxK2R3ZFm0jBlw&s=19 ).

BrittanyBunk commented 2 years ago

@bicolino34 I'm able to access it just fine though. Did I miss something? Maybe just write it down as a list, and I'll add it in then. Right now, I'm researching for the other 2 books.

Okay, I will do that tomorrow.

BrittanyBunk commented 2 years ago

@bicolino34 if you do that tomorrow, will you help me figure out the correct authors and titles today?

bicolino34 commented 2 years ago

I can also access it, but when I go to a new page it often shows an error and I need to reload it a few times until it loads correctly. I tried to make an edit, but it sent me to an error page. So, it didn't save data

BrittanyBunk commented 2 years ago

@bicolino34 aw. I guess then you can help me out then. Would you be able to tell me which books we figured out for the title and author and which we have left, so we know what's left to do?

bicolino34 commented 2 years ago

For Oliver Goldsmith, I suggest using this edition https://www.worldcat.org/title/oliver-goldsmith/oclc/422177977&referer=brief_results For August Strindberg, you can take any book from what I sent, but it may be that for example: https://www.worldcat.org/title/august-strindberg/oclc/12531760&referer=brief_results For Special Education, use these two links they refer to the same edition: https://www.worldcat.org/title/special-education-leadership-series-volume-iii-the-right-to-an-education-mandate-implications-for-special-education-leadership-personnel/oclc/1061387346&referer=brief_results And the one you sent https://eric.ed.gov/?id=ED115001

BrittanyBunk commented 2 years ago

@bicolino34 I found https://www.worldcat.org/title/august-strindberg/oclc/249602387&referer=brief_results for August Strindberg. I don't feel like yours would work, because the author doesn't start with J. What do you feel about mine?

BrittanyBunk commented 2 years ago

@bicolino34 ok, we can do the one you mention for Oliver Goldsmith and the one you want for the special education book. The issue iwth August Strindberg is that a lot's in foreign languages, so the translation may end up with a different letter for the name.

BrittanyBunk commented 2 years ago

Any info you were going to add in, copy/paste here, so we can add it later. Might as well save ourselves the work. I'll do the same.

bicolino34 commented 2 years ago

Your option is better. I just quickly looked through the results and chose first with English translation. My mistake.

BrittanyBunk commented 2 years ago

@bicolino34 cool, let's recap which titles and authors we'll use for the next step: https://www.worldcat.org/title/august-strindberg/oclc/249602387&referer=brief_results for August Strindberg https://www.worldcat.org/title/oliver-goldsmith/oclc/422177977&referer=brief_results for Oliver Goldsmith https://www.worldcat.org/title/special-education-leadership-series-volume-iii-the-right-to-an-education-mandate-implications-for-special-education-leadership-personnel/oclc/1061387346&referer=brief_results for Special Education Leadership Series

BrittanyBunk commented 2 years ago

now when the OL website's up and running, we know what to add in.

Let's add in some info here: I found https://archive.org/details/ERIC_ED115001 for the Special Education Leadership Series book. https://www.amazon.com/Oliver-Goldsmith-N-Jeffares/dp/B0000CK7B1 for the Oliver Goldsmith

I can't find any page on august strindberg. Would you like to help me out? Maybe look on the swedish search engine?

Once we have all the links ot every book, then it'll be easier to copy/paste.

BrittanyBunk commented 2 years ago

I think we have the wrong author for August Strindberg, because the person's first name starts with a J, not the last. So I looked further and found: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/909160.August_Strindberg . It's an actual book on Google Books: https://www.google.com/books/edition/August_Strindberg/yMUaQd5mk3cC?hl=en&gbpv=0 . I think this one makes more sense.

BrittanyBunk commented 2 years ago

Ok we got our books, I'll recap it again, for it to be correct this time: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/909160.August_Strindberg for August Strindberg https://www.worldcat.org/title/oliver-goldsmith/oclc/422177977&referer=brief_results for Oliver Goldsmith https://www.worldcat.org/title/special-education-leadership-series-volume-iii-the-right-to-an-education-mandate-implications-for-special-education-leadership-personnel/oclc/1061387346&referer=brief_results for Special Education Leadership Series

The extra links for filling out info are: https://archive.org/details/ERIC_ED115001 for the Special Education Leadership Series https://www.amazon.com/Oliver-Goldsmith-N-Jeffares/dp/B0000CK7B1 for Oliver Goldsmith https://www.google.com/books/edition/August_Strindberg/yMUaQd5mk3cC?hl=en&gbpv=0 for August Strindberg

I'll leave it to you to fill out the info on the Open Library, but if you need anymore help, let me know!

bicolino34 commented 2 years ago

@BrittanyBunk Thank you for your help! @seabelis close the issue, all works were reassigned

BrittanyBunk commented 2 years ago

@bicolino34 I knew I could do it and solvable. Thanks for believing in me!

BrittanyBunk commented 2 years ago

@bicolino34 now that this one's done, I was wondering if you'd like to work on other issues or that's it?

seabelis commented 2 years ago

Thank you, @bicolino34 and @BrittanyBunk .
