California Treasures #52

Anyone would like to help me add in the California Treasures series and make sure the books already on the Open Library have the best covers and have a consistent format with the other books? Example: https://openlibrary.org/books/OL26808000M/California_Treasures

Another one is just treasures by macmillan too

I can help with this. Is there a list available of the ones that need to be added/edited?

is the xls sheet for finding/keeping track of good cover images?

bluesvelvet commented 3 years ago

I've added California Treasures Grade 1 books 1-6 so far and have been adding them to this list as I go to keep track https://openlibrary.org/people/ghoulgalpals/lists/OL194586L/california_treasures Please let me know if I'm doing something incorrectly or need to adjust some things.

@bluesvelvet I wouldn't call an xlsx sheet good for images, but you could use it if you want to. I'd recommend creating a new tab for it. Would you like me to help out with any of that?

Ok, I looked at them - the images and layout's beautiful. One way to make it better though is to have the format: California Treasures - Grade 1, Book 1. Notice the - and , . How it looks right now runs into each other. I wish the Grade and Book #'s would be in the subtitle, but doing so changes the look to be unreadable - so it was smart that you put it in the title. I think that tweak is all and the rest should work out. I'll change the titles, so you can continue with the new format. I think it'll be nice for when other Treasures and McGraw Hill series are added - for differentiation.

Wow - thank you for doing this! It's a great relief on me - definitely not a 1 person job lol

I found another issue - to find the opposite ISBN of what you have, copy/paste your ISBN into Bookfinder.com. I'm doing that for anything that's missing, but can help for future ones.

The opposite ISBN? Do you mean the ISBN-10 or something else?

BrittanyBunk commented 3 years ago

@bluesvelvet yes - like 10 if you have the 13 and 13 if you have the 10.

@bluesvelvet would it be ok for to fill in the books you add to the Open Library, or should I wait on your cue/until you're finished to do that? Just want to be on the same track :)

All that sounds great! I was trying to make sense of things in the doc and the xlsx sheet and it seemed like thing the links in the xlsx all had in common was a decent cover so I wasn't sure haha.

No feel free to fill in!

@bluesvelvet everything in the xlsx are links to all the books - I tried to make sense of it all. I picked the best covers I could find - so that's what's there. Feel free to seek better and find links I might've missed. I think after all the books are up on the Open Library, then we can seek out more.

That makes sense - trying to figure it all out - it is a lot - and what's in my head - my format, would be hard to figure out just looking at it.

Some of the links to the books in the treasures tab link to copies of the Florida Treasure editions. Should I move those to the FL tab and find correct links? It seems to be only the ones for the Kindergarten books, not all of them. Also it seems like some of the Treasure books are already on OL.

OL16577533W OL16581555W OL16577536W OL16581438W OL16581294W

The grade is in the subtitle, not sure if there's a better way to format it.

@bluesvelvet anything that doesn't look right - feel free to change - as I said - it was info overload, so I bet there's a lot that's misplaced and/or omitted. Feel free to add books that are missing too.
