Sometimes 404 just is used to show a user that no search result could be found.
An example is this dictionary site.
Now if it would check the full URL of the site the add-on could see that no results can be found in the archive, everything would be all right. However this add-on presents me https://web.archive.org/web/20160326125044/http://dict.leo.org/ende/?lang=en and this site is a different one as the search string is missing.
