Long MP4 Videos Freeze/Crash After About an Hour #467

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Load an MP4 movie of ~2 hours.
2. Watch for about 30 minutes to an hour.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expect it to continue playing, instead, it will freeze.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
.75 on System Menu 4.0

Do you have a modchip?
No.

Please provide any additional information below.
On some movies, it will continue playing after a while, except the sound
and video will skip at an unwatchable rate. On others, mPlayer CE will
crash and the system will require a hard shutdown.

I am also getting freezing. There are several bug reports that are about
freezing,
but this one is probably the closest. I am running .76 on 4.1 but have had this
problem on 3.x system menu versions. After a certain arbitrary amount of
playing,
often a half hour or less, I get a freeze. It just halts and I have to turn
the Wii
completely off and on before it'll work. This is not a new problem to this
version
of MPlayer CE but I seem to be getting it more frequently now. I am using no
networking capabilities and it even happens when I play a file off a SD card.
If I
do turn the Wii off and play the file again it doesn't freeze at the same point.

Someone else reported that it freezes if you play it after changing settings. I
usually have to resize the video using the nunchuk, I don't know if this counts
as
changing settings.

I do not have a modchip.

Also, I have to insert a USB device or it won't run at all, but this is a known
problem.
