Has development halted? #119

I remember reading something about copyright issues.

Is the project still proceeding?

Thank you! :+1:

@intika As you know, many people already find this project interesting. Many of us use it personally, and some of us are enthusiastic contributors as well. We'd love to learn about the results of your conversations with Mozilla regarding the copyright issues (and also more about what copyright issues there were) and help in resolving those.

If you're finding it difficult to find time to actively develop, we, the community could continue contributing through pull requests. If you're finding it difficult to make time for PR reviews, perhaps you could grant review permissions to trusted contributors to whichever degree you're comfortable.

Please don't kill Librefox off.

@intika Are the Project still why the Programm is very good please not still the Project

gerroon commented 5 years ago

Does anyone know if anybody actively maintains a fork of this project?

Serkan-devel commented 5 years ago

I don't think the is a copyright problem with Librefox. Waterfox for example has existed for years and is still operating under that name.

shreyasminocha commented 5 years ago

@Serkan-devel I wish so, but:

Serkan-devel commented 5 years ago

But didn't this repo have an icon similar to mozilla's which might have infringed on their trademark?

Serkan-devel commented 5 years ago

Could we make create a community maintained, temporary fork of Librefox?

It can be merged back to upstream when Intika is back

Serkan-devel commented 5 years ago

Maybe under a different name and with a very different logo to prevent trademark infringement. Maybe one could look at other FF forks as how they set themselve apart from mozilla. Be it Waterfox or Pale Moon

gerroon commented 5 years ago

Hi

I found this repo , it is for Win atm moment but if there is enough intetrest maybe the dev starts building it for Linux as well

https://github.com/muslayev/iceweasel-win64

dimqua commented 5 years ago

This is a fork of this project for Fennec and Firefox for Android: https://github.com/quindecim/fennec_user.js

Serkan-devel commented 5 years ago

@dimqua would you mind adding the license of the repo this is based on?

elypter commented 5 years ago

is the progress just invisible or is just nothing happening anymore? or could it be that mozilla sent their lawyers to gag intika?

shreyasminocha commented 5 years ago

@elypter

or could it be that mozilla sent their lawyers to gag intika?

Wow, I hadn't considered that possibility. Interesting that you mention it. If so, it's really sad.

BoostRacerKing commented 5 years ago

the problem is i can't program otherwise i would have further developed the program

Browser privacy is most important thing on digital world. I am not expert developer so I can not help to develop this project but I can not figure out how people not helping this project.

Many extensions are ope source but the maintainers can put on firefox-extension-store with different source codes (example additional telemetry libraries...).

Here I open an issue: https://github.com/bijij/ViewImage/issues/173

Best part of LibreFox project is the feature that blocks extensions to use internet connection which solves %100 of the privacy concerns (for extensions only of course).

For that reason: Please support this project!

Thank you

We're maintaining a LibreFox fork, LibreWolf, over on GitLab. At the moment we have alpha builds for some linux distros, but we're still working towards an initial release. We're taking a more community-focused approach to development so we can avoid LibreFox's fate. Feel free to help out—browser dev, web dev, documentation… whatever you can contribute!

Everyone's welcome to the Gitter room 😄
