Privafox ESR? #6

How do you feel about creation a Privafox edition based on the current Firefox ESR version? In this case, you can even use Tor Browser as a base of your set.

Okay it's not asking a lot i will add windows/linux esr... am not pro tor, but i will have a look at that ;)

ESR is coming in v2, and for tor i will not bundle TBB because it's need a lot of work/maintenance to make it efficient, it's better to just use TBB when needing Tor, now... applying Privafox to Tor is not recommended because some settings may be not suitable for TBB

I was thinking about not using tor actually.

Tor without tor = gHacks-Userscript+Firefox or Privafox or Ungoogled-Chromium... If that browser you linked is just TBB without tor it miss probably some important settings it's why i recommend you using one of the three solution here, now if the developer did the work to add what's missing you could add that to the 3 i listed...

Yes if i have to bundle Privafox with TBB i can just do it right away but it would not be a good solution, it's better to test conflicting settings and see what fit best and honestly this is out of scope of the project and i don't really have the time for it.

I don't know for what are you using Tor, i hope it's not for important things like banking or else now when we surf most of the time we need to be logged on this or that service while doing our surf... i don't recommend to login to any service over Tor (other than dark web stuff...) a vpn solution is more secure it's just my opinion, i am not saying that i am right or wrong :)

Also i don't like using security stuff tied to secret services but one more time it's just an opinion.

Dark web should stay just dark web not mixed with the rest... now when it come to journalism or some specific case i understand the utility of tor. also it depend from who are you hiding if you just seeking privacy i don't think tor is the best bet.

Can you please tell me more about your love for Tor ? because a lot of users ask about it and i don't really get it in my point of view.

You're probably right, but according to this document, it also has "a series of patches to enhance privacy and security". See also Tor Uplift project.

You're right, but on other hand, most if not all of the settings should fit Tor Browser just as fine as Firefox ESR.

Can you please tell me more about your love for Tor ? because a lot of users ask about it and i don't really get it in my point of view.

I usually do not use Tor for reasons other than accessing dark web and circumvention of government censorship (Russia).

Finally dropped this never ending release and we have an ESR and a TBB yaaay :D version :) this is beta for TBB right now we will see how things go
