Many changes have been made to jzIntv and SDK-1600 since the last time VINTage paid much attention to the details. The biggest change to jzIntv is the move to SDL2 - primarily driven by performance on Mac. Other improvements to SDK-1600 tools are less obvious, and as far as VINTage is concerned are mainly focused on ROM metadata and other improvements.
This change brings in a number of changes to how VINTage integrates its build with jzIntv and the SDK-1600 tools it uses:
Remove binaries of the SDK-1600 tools from the repo!
Implement a curl-based mechanism (via make) to fetch a 'known good' export of SDK-1600 and jzIntv from the official download location
Stop committing the .dmg for SDL to the Mac projects - also fetch it via curl
Though strongly discouraged, it is still possible to attempt SDL1 builds of jzIntv from source
32-bit Mac build of VINTage is still supported, though it's barely surviving; because of this, the Mac build of INTV.jzIntvUI was altered to support both SDL1 and SDL disk image and an in-process fetch of "the other" version of SDL can be "installed", depending on the jzIntv being used via the UI
Windows builds now require MSYS2; it may be possible to use the original MinGW/MSYS but it's considered abandonware at this point; you can probably get the basic curl-based 'fetch stuff from binary distribution' to work in MinGW, but actual compilation of SDK-1600 / jzIntv source is likely a lost cause at this point; if you try to use MinGW to build that stuff from source, best of luck
