a user of our repo misused the "I already have a DOI" to test the system...

• the user used a zenodo-DOI where the record with metadata and files is and stays
• then created a metadata-only-record in our repo with the zenodo-DOI and some sloppy-copied metadata-info

the "I already have a DOI" idea

• if a publisher minted a DOI for you - the publisher will then set your landing-page for this DOI
• if data is moved from one repository to another

what we learned from this:

• there are people that do not understand what the "I already have a DOI" means

We think that it might be a more common issue, that should be addressed in invenio-app-rdm Some ideas:

• better help text/tooltip
• making it less prominent
• starting with "I do not have a DOI" instead of "I do have a DOI" (which is often the exception)

@ppanero mentioned the zenodo-text, but that might be too long @tmorrell favors "I do not have a doi" to be the default
